Jason Thomas is a teacher who is passionate about his school, his students and his community. The 2017 Oakcrest High School Teacher of The Year, Jason is an Oakcrest High School alumni who continued his education locally, attending ACCC and Stockton University to attain a Bachelor's degree in the visual arts. Jason has been a Falcon at "The Nest" professionally since 2006, and has taken advantage of every opportunity to use media to improve the school and local community. He and his students have worked frequently with local schools, area individuals and businesses to promote their causes.
Currently, Jason is certified in NJ both as a teacher of television broadcasting and teacher of art, specializing in tv and video production, as well as the areas of photography, film making and communication concepts. Aside from teaching those subjects during the school day, he also serves as advisor to the Yearbook, Student Council and Media Clubs. Jason and his colleague Charles Lockwood oversee all aspects of visual production at Oakcrest and were honored as "Faculty Pioneers" at Atlantic Cape Community College's ACCC Communications Awards in 2015.
In addition to teaching, Jason also works as an independent video producer, creating visual works in a wide range of video genres-specializing in the conceptualization, shooting and editing of various forms of digital and video productions .
